Monumental Propaganda

Picture
Monumental Propaganda
1993
Drawing printed in The New Yorker

The French artist Michel Gérard and the Russian poet Marina Temkina propose taking a group of onetime pedestals, stripped of their statues, inverting them, and planting a variety of humble vegetables on their tops, in celebration of the 'Post-Leninist Crop.'

A project initiated by Komar and Melamid and shown at the WTC travelling exhibition.
